APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS & RULES
Scheduling assignments will be base on date & time payment is received. The sooner you register, the later your performance time within the category.
All registrations and payments must be received two (2) weeks prior to the contest
you are entering.

The Final schedule for participants will be posted one (1) week prior to the show.
Housing is the responsibility of the participants.
GENERAL RULES AND PHILOSOPHY
- Participation is open, regardless of affiliation.
- Judges will be looking for the technical ability in each performance although effectiveness will be considered.
- Rules will be used to assure a fair competition, but they will be interpreted to allow competitors artistic freedom.
- One point will be assessed for every rule infraction.
- Scheduling will be done allowing for the best possible entertainment with consideration given to competitors entered in multiple categories.
- Warm-ups will be permitted ONLY in designated areas.
- In order to be eligible for an I& E medal, there must be more than one (1) entry in a category. If there is only one (1) entry in a given category, the contestant or ensemble may perform as an exhibition as long as he/she agrees to the rules for the general category.
- All Entry Forms and Fees must be received 10 days prior to the competition in order to participate in the I & E. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
BRASS INDIVIDUALS
- Any individual bugle or brass instrument will be judged.
- A contestant may play only one horn during the performance.
- The time limit is 1:30 minutes minimum to 3:00 minutes maximum.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each minute over or under the time limit.
- Time starts with the first note and ends with the last note.
- Music scores DO NOT need to be presented to the judges.
BRASS & OR MIXED DUETS
- A duet is defined as two (2) participants.
- Each participant may play only one horn during the performance.
- Any combinations of the two (2) approved horns may be used.
- The time limit is 1:30 minutes minimum to 3.00 minutes maximum.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each minute over or under the time limit.
- Time starts with the first note and ends with the last note.
- Music scores DO NOT need to be presented to the judges
BRASS & OR MIXED ENSEMBLES
- An ensemble is defined as 3 to 10 participants.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each person over 10 or under the 3 participants.
- Any combination of horns, percussion & keyboard maybe used.
- The time limit is 2.0 minutes minimum to 5.0 minutes maximum.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each minute over or under the time limit.
- Time starts with the first note and ends with the last note.
- Music scores DO NOT need to be presented to the judges.
PERCUSSION INDIVIDUALS
- Any individual approved percussion instrument will be judged.
- The percussionist may play only one percussion instrument during the performance.
- The time limit is 1.30 minutes minimum to 3:00 minutes maximum.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each minute over or under the time limit.
- Time starts with the first note and ends with the last note.
- Music scores DO NOT need to be presented to the judges.
PERCUSSION DUETS
- A duet is defined as two (2 (percussionists).
- Any combination of approved percussion instruments will be judged.
- The time limit is 1:30 minutes minimum to 3:00 minutes maximum.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each minute over or under the time limit.
- Time starts with the first note and ends with the last note.
- Music scores DO NOT need to be presented to the judges.
PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE (MEMBRANE PERCUSSION)
- An ensemble is defined as three (3) to ten (10) percussionists.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each participant over 12 or under 3.
- Any combination of approved percussion instruments maybe used, but no other instruments will be allowed.
- The time limit is 2:00 minutes minimum to 5:0.0 minutes maximum.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each minute over or under the time limit.
- Time starts with the first note and ends with the last note.
- Music scores DO NOT need to be presented to the judges.
KEYBOARD INDIVIDUAL
- Any individual approved keyboard instrument will be judged.
- The keyboardist may play only one keyboard instrument during the performance.
- The time limit is 1:30 minutes minimum to 3:00 minutes maximum.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each minute over or under the time limit.
- Time starts with the first note and ends with the last note.
- Music scores DO NOT need to be presented to the judges.
KEYBOARD ENSEMBLE

- The time limit is 2:00 minutes minimum to 5:00 minutes maximum.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each minute over or under the time limit.

MINI CORPS
- A Mini Corps is defined as a minimum of 11 to 22 participants.
- If a Drum Major used, he/she is counted as one of the 22 participants.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each participant under 11.
- Any combination of horns and percussion instruments may be used.
- The time limit is 5:00 minutes minimum to 10:00 minutes maximum.
- There will be a one (1) point penalty for each minute over or under the time limit.
- Time starts with the first note and ends with the last note.
- Music scores DO NOT need to be presented to the judges.
